Direction Italy at ACME for the passage to the bench at the hubs of an OSELLA with a formula 1 engine

Benjamin Vielmi recently participated in the French champion of La Montagne with an extraordinary car: a  OSELLA prototype with a Megatron engine. This is an engine used in Formula 1 a few years ago.

Osella is a former Italian team, which notably participated in the Formula 1 world championship in the 1980s. Powered by Cosworth and Alfa Romeo engines, the brand ran into financial difficulties in the 1990s, ending participation in Formula 1. Enzo Osella, founder of the brand, then devoted himself to the European Hill Climb Championship.

Osella by Benjamin Vielmi on the Hubscan bench:

The Hubscan bench is a hub test bench. This allows in particular a precision and a repeatability without common measure with a chassis dynamometer.  Screwed directly into the hub, the phenomena of skidding, tire deformation or questionable strapping become non-existent.

The bench is available in 2 and 4 wheel drive and includes torque and speed measurements right from the start. It can be equipped with OBD acquisition, various optional sensor inputs. You can measure different temperatures as well as pressures directly on the bench: Rotronics designs and manufactures each product to measure according to customer expectations.

Thus, some customers are equipped with test procedures for  test differentials, access networks (CAN for example). It is also possible to train the vehicle (for recharging an electric vehicle, for example), to simulate road profiles. So some of our customers are preparing approvals. Others make laps in advance of phase directly on the bench etc.

Concretely, the bench made it possible to make the development, to take some measures (570hp at 11,200 rpm). There has also been some anti-lag work among others.
